This was a grave injustice. Terminating Dr. Topping at the beginning of the school term was planned and obviously done so he couldn’t find another position for the 2024-25 school year. This was real malice. |

I am extremely disappointed to hear this! The church went through a lot of turbulence through Covid and the last thing we need right now is to be letting go of our strong people in the church… There is a lot wrong with this and there needs to be better leadership to make this right! |

The wrongful dismissal of Dr Topping has shaken our faith in the trustworthiness of Newman Theological College to faithfully teach the next generation of young Catholics. If this situation is not justly reconciled, we would never consider sending any of our 5 children to be educated there.

I was shocked when I learned about Dr. Topping’s dismissal from NTC. I know I share the voice of many expressing that this decision was unjust. Dr. Topping has inspired a lot of young Catholics and has made a lot of contributions not only to the college, but also to the Archdiocese. |

A full investigation into this is needed. Without just cause to remove someone that has benefited the program in many ways it's very disheartening. Many have attending this program because of him. He's well known in the Catholic and homeschooling community and many are saddened by this news. |

I am not familiar with the circumstances surrounding Dr Topping ‘s dismissal but I do agree that there needs to be transparency and that someone holding an interim position should not be making permanent changes within an institution unless significant consultation has been made leading up to such a decision.
I am aware of unjust dismissals in our archdiocese and it is not a good look for a Catholic institution! Very hard to work through the fact that a Catholic organization has dismissed employees in a very unchristian manner - without even an acknowledgement or formal thanks for their dedicated, conscientious service. Even secular organizations do better!
I pray that those in positions of authority in our archdioceses will humble themselves in prayer to carry out the will of our Father. |

I was shocked about the dismissal of Dr Topping, including the resignation of Dr Jason West after his term was renewed last year for another 3 years. The strong reaction from the Catholic community is an indication that the decisions were done with lack of transparency and engagement of the stakeholders. My fervent prayer is for the board and the Archdiocese to act decisively in addressing the concerns and issues, and communicating them to the community. |

As a faithful Catholic, I am highly disappointed by this recent decision by the Board of NTC. It is shameful and unfounded. I am flabbergasted that such a profound decision was made during the term of a non-Catholic INTERIM president. Also, it was highly un-Christian that the decision was made at the beginning of the semester, leaving a husband and father without a job at the worst possible time of the academic year. |

I loved hearing Dr. Topping at Credo. That he was dismissed makes me think that something is rotten in the state of Denmark. I know this ridiculous decision can't stand and that Dr. Topping will be restoried to his rightful place. Some bad actors also need to step forward and explain themselves. |
