Please allow for young catholics and seminarians to receive education by Catholics who love and will uphold the faith. It is critical for the future of the diocese that the people who come out of Newman will have the best education regarding the Catholic faith. This is what will keep the Church alive in Edmonton. |

I have a faithful Catholic daughter in grade 12 who is friends with numerous of your students. We were considering Newman for her but at this point are so disappointed in the school there is no way we’d send her.
Catholics who don’t like Dr Topping are highly unlikely to be interested in anything else NTC has stood for- as in truth, goodness, beauty. They won’t come until you fire most of your faculty.
You have made a huge mistake.
Please acknowledge, confess and make restitution as required. The whole community, both Catholic and not, is watching.

Dear Archbishop Smith - I respectfully ask you to intervene quickly in this situation where Dr. Topping, who is an outstanding Catholic educator, was released without cause from the faculty of Neuman Theological College. The next generation of young Catholics are in dire need of solid Catholic colleges therefore we need to ensure NTC continues to pursue it's established Vision and Mission. |

It makes no sense to have a Protestant leading a specifically Catholic institution. Dr Topping was an obvious target. NTC is an institution we have grown to cherish precisely due to Dr. Topping’s excellent work. Dr Topping deserved much better and his work and reputation should not have been tarnished by this shameful action. We will continue to support the efforts of the Catholics in our Archdiocese who are seeking the resolution of getting Dr Topping his rightful job back. |
