Mrs Jolene Hennessy jolenehennessy@gmail.com Would a Jewish or Muslim or Protestant school hire a Catholic as an interim president? Of course not. You can clearly see how ridiculous this is. Are you truly a practicing Catholic? Think about the ripple effect this has on not only Catholics but non-Catholics as well. ‘There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church’ This is a dogma. The Catholic community would like to receive an answer from the Archbishop. Will you sweep this under the rug as well?? Yes

Mr Clark Jaman Jaman.Clark@gmail.com Dr Badley's appointment as president and Dr Topping's wrongful dismissal seem to indicate that I will have to send my children outside of Western Canada for University. May God have mercy on anyone who may have committed the sin of scandal or who has the power to rectify this situation but fails to act. Yes

Mrs M. Na michelineeperrault@gmail.com We were very disappointed to hear of the firing of Dr. Topping. Especially considering the fact that he has a large family to provide and care for. The church's priority should be to encourage married couples to have big families, which leads to more vocations, as well as hiring/supporting fathers in order for them to support their big families. This would also mean considering hiring fathers of larger families above hiring single women, elderly, young men, simply for the fact that they have mouths to feed and are in fact providing the church with her "body" , i.e. the faithful/future vocations. Which, the irony in this situation is that Dr. Topping in fact is doing just that. We pray that our leaders and pastors will recognize the injustice in their actions and reconsider their position. Without faithful parents living out their vocation in the married life, the church has no grounds to stand on. It is our duty and responsibility to support THEM first and foremost in order to have an active and growing "body" of the One and Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church. Praying for all those involved. Sincerely, M. Na Yes

Mrs Barbara Duteau john654@shaw.ca Please do right by Dr. Topping and by the Catholic community of Alberta and give Dr. Topping back his position at Newman Theological college. Newman needs professors who are able to create programming, attract funding and have a great teaching ability and rapport with students. Sincerely, Barbara Duteau Yes

Miss Eve Bussiere evebussiere@gmail.com I am very disappointed and saddened by the decision of the college to fire Dr. Topping and to go against the good of the college and its students, and to impede the growth of the Catholic community at NTC and the propagation of the Faith by removing Dr. Topping from his position and causing this scandal. I am even more so saddened that nothing was done to repair the damage done to Dr. Topping and his family's reputation and to the college reputation, even after the peaceful protest in early October. I pray and hope that justice will be served in this situation. I pray that we get a Catholic president who is strong in his Faith and leads the college as a true and good witness of the Faith. An apology must be made to Dr. Topping for what has been unjustly done to him. I pray that those who made the decision to fire Dr. Topping realize their wrongdoing and consider stepping down to let other Catholic make decisions regarding the good of the college and its students. Dr Christine Schintgen cschintgen@seatofwisdom.ca Dr. Ryan Topping is an esteemed Catholic educator and leader. He is an inspiration to many working in the field of Catholic higher education in Canada. It is disappointing to see him apparently being penalized for his faithfulness to the Church's teachings, rather than being rewarded for his contributions to Newman Theological College, and indeed to the Church in Canada. He deserved better treatment. Yes

Mrs Keryn Sulimma hksulimma@gmail.com It was comforting to know that there was a very strong Catholic presence and teaching at NTC and I mostly mourn this loss for my children that were excited for the opportunity to go to a Catholic institution. I just don’t understand why NTC wouldn’t want to embrace the bold, and refreshingly Catholic example provided by Dr.Topping? Yes

Miss Kristen Chapman kristen.toc@gmail.com The importance for NTC to have strong Catholic leaders is incredibly important for the upcoming young people of this generation. Mr Mark Ingham markingham@protonmail.com Your Grace, during the demonstration, while we were on our knees, we were praying a decade of the rosary for you. The manner and abruptness of the dismissal of Dr. Topping seems inconsistent with how Christ asks us to treat even our enemies. If a parting of ways was for the best, there could have been much gentler and kinder ways of doing it, as any college administrator of good will should have been able to advise. Dr. Topping was a high value target, a true leader of Catholic evangelical renewal who practices what he preaches in accordance with the Magisterium. In every measure of Catholic Scholarship, Dr. Topping seems to be exemplary and one to be treasured and retained by Newman, especially at a time when Newman was on the ascendancy, increasingly attracting students and quality faculty from afar as a beacon on the hill. As you must know, scholars are judged by research, teaching, service, and successful grant-writing. Dr. Topping excelled in all of these. His research on vocations was attracting national and international attention. He continues to publish books every couple of years. He is a beloved and inspiring teacher. He showed leadership of innumerable acts of service and administrative successes, with Adoremus and Credo events with standing room only, Faith and Reasons seminars at full capacity, and many other ventures of mentorship and networking to build up the kingdom. To top it off, he won the college a million dollar grant. With a PhD in theology from a world-renowned supervisor at Oxford and a published dissertation, his credentials are exemplary. It just doesn't make sense that those who have long hated what he has accomplished and gunned for his dismissal should have been permitted to take out this humble, but high value target. It is reminiscent of what we learn of strategies laid bare in The Devil and Bella Dodd (2022), a story that is ultimately redemptive. I pray for redemption. I will pray for your Grace, and for Dr. Topping. I will also pray for all those working tirelessly to tear Newman apart from within by seeking ideals that stray very far from the Humble Faith, Hope, and Love that our Lord calls us to. Please don't hesitate to call on me if there is any way I can help, respectfully and with integrity, to work toward peace and renewed evangelization in a community where many of the most ardent in your faithful flock feel neglected and cast aside. Yes

Ms Danielle Arc jendanielle.arcilla@gmail.com This is a long shot considering how feedback-averse this archdiocese and its leaders are. Your Grace, the people who signed this petition are part of your flock too. Your website says you want the diocese to become a missionary and synodal church. This is your chance to demonstrate that and practice what you preach. We still believe in your good heart, but please try to hear other voices and not just your so-called advisors. Dr. Topping has impacted our community more than all of them combined. Come Holy Spirit! Yes

Ms Sharon Mann Mann sharonmann1956@gmail.com I am new to the Edmonton area. However, i attended classes with Ryan Topping as a undergran in Winnipeg. During those years, Ryan was reguarded as a student of considerable academic promise. Years later, i discovered that he graduated from Oxford with a Ph. D. and that he had converted to Catholicism. To my delight, upon searching for Catholic graduate education i found Newman College. And there too was Ryan Topping. I find it interesting that God placed us, two former undergrads, in the same location several times. Odder still, is that two protestant, from the same anabaptist undergrad program have both been drawn into the Catholic church. And now once again, reside in the same area, where the younger, Ryan is the professor, and i the older, remains the student. I, a woman with a masters of divinity, placed my call on the alter for Christ, the Eucharist, and the Catholic Church. Perhaps, God has a plan of his own. It might be a co-incident, but i think its a GODCEQUENCE! Yes

Mrs Dorothy Abernethy dorothyabernethy@hotmail.com I am very sorry to hear of the sudden and unexpected dismissal of Dr. Ryan Topping from Newman Theological Catholic College. Dr. Topping is an outstanding academic scholar, who is deeply committed to his Catholic faith. As students' comments show, he was not only concerned about academics, but he worked hard to build a strong Catholic culture at the College. Dr. Topping was a great asset to Newman Theological College. I offer my prayers and support to Dr. Topping and his family. Yes
