"By their fruits, you will know them." (Matt 7) Reading through the comments in this petition, there have been so many lives influenced by Dr. Topping's leadership, and bear witness to his academic excellence and commitment to building a Catholic culture across Alberta and Canada. The Great Books program, the Benedict XVI institute, the leadership camps, to name a few initiatives, would not exist without his presence. I sincerely hope that those who can influence the future development of NTC will see this grassroots campaign and realize the importance of NTC's cultural influence in the local Canadian Catholic community. St. John Henry Newman was well aware of the challenges in post-secondary institutions when he set out to found the Catholic University of Ireland, but his commitment to obedience and the pursuit of holiness allowed him to leave in Ireland with abundant fruit, notably "The Idea of a University" (which should be required reading for all those involved in the present controversy). Obedience and holiness, by these fruits you will know them.
