Being a recent convert to the our Holy Catholic religion, I express my wholehearted support for Dr. Topping as a pillar of the community, and a great source of edification especially during my time as a catechumen. The way in which he has been treated by NTC in recent weeks is nothing short of outrageous, and it has undoubtedly stained the reputation of the college in the eyes of many. How could the leadership of a college, which claims to be Catholic, even countenance the abrupt dismissal of a professor who lives and teaches the true faith in such a way that scores of young Catholics have flocked to hear him at events such as Credo and Adoremus? I shudder also at the thought of a protestant, an enemy of the Church, being put at the helm of this college, and holding any position of authority over Catholic students, let alone seminarians. What would Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen say? I pray for the conversion of Dr. Badley and for the entire board to realize the damage which has already been inflicted on the college by the unjust dismissal of Dr. Topping. Saint John Henry Newman, pray for us!
